Thank-you to all who attended and contributed to WIUGC this year.  We appreciate all the contributions from our sponsors, industry and technical societies representatives, volunteers, and planning committee who made WIUGC possible.  We hope that everyone can attend the WIUGC next year being hosted by the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

If you are wanting to see pictures, we are posting them on Facebook under the group "WIUGC2008".  We are starting to collect the photos and hopefully will post some on the website soon.  If any sponsors would like WIUGC photos, please feel free to e-mail wiugc2008@gmail.com.

If you are registered for the conference and have not recieved a conformation e-mail with information regarding the conference please contact us at wiugc2008@gmail.com.

Registration and check in times have been changed to 3:00-6:00 pm on Thursday January 3rd.  It is still being held at the Marriot Hotel and from 6:30pm - 8pm at the Shaw Conference Centre - Outside Salon 9.

Any outstanding costs you owe the conference must be paid at check-in.  We will not have any cash on hand so please have a cheque ready. Reimbursement for doing a talk or poster will be made on Saturday night.

If you are doing a talk, please have your powerpoint presentation ready to download at time of registration.  We will have our computer there so that we have all the presentations before they start on Friday.   If you are doing a poster, please post it on the postboards in Salon 10 before 10pm on Friday.


If you have registered for a field trip, you should be receiving another e-mail shortly that will explain more details.

December 16, 2007: Check in and Banquet
 Registration and check in will be held at the Marriot Hotel on Thursday January 3rd from 2:00-6:00 pm.

The Banquet held on Saturday the 5th is a semi-formal affair.  So pack something nice for this last night of rocking.

As the conference approaches there will be more news and information for those attending it available on the website.  A detailed, finalized itinary is in the making and will likely be posted in the next few days.  For any more immediate questions or concerns contact us at wiugc2008@gmail.com

November  8, 2007: Flight Discounts/ Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to help with the conference in various different functions.  Please contact us at wiugc2008@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering opportunities.

There is a 10% flight discount available on the best available price for transportation to the conference.  Please e-mail wiugc2008@gmail.com for a conference code for your bookings.

November 5, 2007: Posters and Talks

We are looking for Undergraduate and Graduate students to give    presentations and make posters for the conference.  Prizes (both monetary and otherwise) will be available for the best presentations and posters. 

If you have a topic you would like to present on or would like to donate prizes please get in touch with us at wiugc2008@gmail.com.  More information on presentation requirements available here.

Currently one of the Cash prizes for presentations is $500.

The Western Inter-University Geoscience Conference (WIUGC) is a student-run conference that is held at a different western Canadian university every year.

The 2008 conference will be held in Edmonton and will take place from January 3-6, 2008.
